The Department of Journalism at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) requires the services of a Development Journalism lecturer (part-time) for its B-Tech: Journalism programme.

About the module:
Development Journalism (among other aspects) addresses how journalism can contribute to participatory democracy, equality, social justice, peace, and other humanistic values. It focuses on the needs of the poor, the deprived and the marginalised. This kind of journalism motivates the active participation of the affected people in developmental planning and advocating for their interests.

Requirements:
* An acute sense of the broad range of development issues in SA and on the continent that ought to be covered by SA media, how they should be covered, what’s lacking in coverage, etc .

* An academic qualification in development studies/journalism/media studies at postgrad level.

* Lecturing and/or tutoring experience would be advantageous.
