EJTA 20 YEARS REUNION

there is to be an EJTA reunion next year.

Mogens Schmidt has kindly offered to host the 20th anniversary of EJTA and
the AGM and conference at the UNESCO in Paris.
The dates are: May 20 to 22, 2010 (dates in some earlier mails were incorrect)

Perhaps you can block a few more days in your schedule of May 2010.
There will be many more activities just before the AGM and the conference: a
study tour to media in Paris and Best Practise Sessions, Round Tables and
Panel Discussions.
Our friends from the CFPJ help us with the organisation of these activities; the sessions will take place at the CFPJ, Rue du Louvre.

I am happy to organise the reunion part of the festivities.

If you are interested in this meeting keep the dates free and let me know
so I can put you on the LIST. We also need all the names to include in a EU
grant application. The request for your cv¹s will follow soon, please start
working/editing on yours (or, as promised, I will)

If you are not interested or unable to come, please let me know as well.

For your information I include a list of people we have contacted, it is
just great that most plan to come.
If you have more names and email addresses of (former) colleagues please
mail them to me. I have focussed on Board Members and the represenatives from the schools/centers who ofte attended the AGM’s. I have not activily looked for all the teachers who worked on the Euroreporters. Of course it is up to the members to decide who they want to send to Paris

 With festive wishes,

Farewell message Marianne Peters

Adieu, goodbye, tot ziens, arrivederci, adios, auf wiedersehen, servus

Dear friends,

Those of you who joined us in Sofia will agree that we had a very good AGM and an interesting conference.

The new elements we incorporated into this meeting went very well: two Round Table discussions and one Panel Discussion. We agreed in Valencia last year to have more ‘meet your colleagues’ sessions. There is so much to learn form each other, especially in these times of crisis in the media.

Nearly fifty colleagues gathered in the old university building in beautiful Sofia.

After five years I step down as president. With pleasure (less work) and regret (it was great work).

I would especially like to thank those I worked most closely with: the friends in the Board, the friends in Maastricht at the European Journalism Centre, especially Wilfried Ruetten and Bianca Lemmens, and those of you who worked on various projects and sessions.

A very special thank you to Nico Drok: the think-tank of the EJTA Board. Nico did, and is still doing, invaluable work on the competences and the catalogue of international courses. He kept, and keeps, a clear eye on the goals of EJTA and where EJTA should be going.
And he kept a clear eye on me too. He prefers to stay in the shade rather than in the sun, but be assured that without him I could not have achieved what I did achieve.

Of course I have to thank you all for the confidence and friendship that was given to me. Those last days, just before the AGM, we had to rearrange all sorts of contributions. Really everyone I sent a mail with the title: “help’, responded immediately and positively. It is great to work with a bunch of people who just like to meet and discuss the many, many challenges facing journalism trainers right now.

I have thanked Manuela for all the work she did and of course also Minka and Teodora. They did a really great job.

You will find the minutes of the AGM on the Forum soon, as well as the names of the Board members.

I will be around to help with the organisation of the 20th anniversary, to try get the European grant and, of course, to write your CV’s.

Thank you all for a wonderful time,

Je vous embrasse,

Marianne Peters
